Symmetry & rays

Enable geometry rules

Geometry is on. Any eligible matching family permits life. Extra neighbors do not veto it.

Symmetry

Opposite pairs

Symmetry distance2

Required symmetry matches3

Symmetry permits birthSymmetry permits survival

At least 3 enabled opposite pair(s), both alive at distance 2. Birth off; survival on.

Rays

Same direction

Ray near distance2

Ray far distance7

Required ray matches2

Rays permit birthRays permit survival

At least 2 enabled ray(s), alive at distances 2 and 7. Birth off; survival on. Intervening cells are ignored. Far always exceeds near.

Life adds another way to live; it cannot cancel geometry.

At least one axis and direction remain selected. Removing one lowers its required matches if needed. With no enabled birth or survival path, cells die. Rule edits pause and preserve the field.

Symmetry Lines

Opposite living pairs sustain cells, while two living samples along a ray extend life. Compose symmetry and direction, with an optional additive Game of Life layer.

Current composition

01Symmetry tests living pairs on opposite sides; rays test two living samples in one direction.
02Birth and survival switches apply to the cell’s current state. All eligible matches combine with OR.
03Every cell reads the same frozen board. A new birth can influence only the next Step.
